Constructing a School:
Obuasi, Ghana, West Africa

Getting Started:

The local chieftain has donated 10 acres to International Mission for Children for the construction of a school.

Working with Local Partners:

The Diocese of Obuasi:

The school sits in the Diocese of Obuasi, which is currently lead by the Most Rev. John Yaw Afoakwah.

Bishop Afoakwah has proved invaluable in helping us reach out to community leaders and identify trustworthy vendors with which we can work.

The Community We Serve

Kwapia Village:

During a visit to Ghana, our delegation's first stop was the local village, Kwapia. Our school will sit just on the outskirts of this small town.

It is difficult to convey the disparity in living conditions. The roads were unpaved, there was no sewage system, and litter could be found everywhere.

Against this backdrop was a vibrant community which was very happy to see our group.
